The Player can buy insurance for half of their original bet amount. If the dealer has Blackjack, then the player will be paid 2 to 1 on the Insurance bet. If the dealer doesn’t have Blackjack, then the insurance amount is lost. If the player is dealt Blackjack and buys insurance and the dealer also has Blackjack then the player is paid out on his insurance bet only but the win amount would equal that of a regular winning hand in Blackjack which pays even money.
